SSO: Single sign-on for EVE

We use various digital applications and services on a daily basis: e-mail, CMR tool, project management system, social media, live subtitles for EVE and many more. We have usernames and passwords for all these applications, which we have to remember for each login. Single sign-on, or SSO for short, can simplify this process and make it more secure.

What is Single Sign-On (SSO)?

Single Sign-On (SSO) is a centralized authentication process that allows users to access multiple applications or services with a single set of credentials (username/email address + password). This makes it possible to log in without re-entering the login data.

SSO simplifies the user experience by reducing the number of login credentials, especially different passwords, that users have to remember. The risk of errors when logging in to different applications and services is thus reduced by this single sign-on.

Overall, single sign-on is an important technology for modern organizations that need to manage multiple applications and services while adhering to strict security and compliance standards.

Single sign-on for EVE

Log in website for the live subtitling service EVETo give you the best possible application experience in EVE, you can now log in to your EVE account with your business Microsoft account via SSO.

Please note: if you already have an EVE account with us with the same e-mail address and would like to take your quota of hours with you, you will need to make an account transfer. We will of course be happy to help you with this. Simply send us a message to hello@starteve.ai stating the e-mail address you use. Important: If you do not transfer your account, two different accounts will be created for one e-mail address. It will then no longer be possible to transfer the hours quota at a later date!

Unfortunately, we cannot automatically integrate your dictionaries during the transfer. We therefore ask you to download your dictionaries yourself in advance and integrate them back into your SSO-linked account later.

What are the advantages of SSO?

Overall, SSO is a powerful tool that offers a number of advantages for both users and companies.

Advantages for users

Simplified user experience: Users only need to remember one set of login credentials to access multiple applications and services. This can simplify the login process and reduce the likelihood of forgotten or incorrectly entered passwords.

Improved productivity: With fewer login prompts and passwords to manage, users can log in to multiple applications faster and easier, which can increase productivity.

Advantages for companies

Increased security: Single sign-on can improve security by reducing the number of credentials users need to manage, which can reduce the risk of password-related attacks such as phishing or brute force attacks. SSO also allows organizations to enforce stricter password policies and enable multi-factor authentication, which helps protect accounts from unauthorized access.

Centralized management: With SSO, user identities and permissions are managed centrally by the identity provider (IDP), which can simplify management and reduce the risk of errors and inconsistencies.

Lower IT costs: SSO can lower IT costs by simplifying the authentication process and reducing the time and resources required to manage user accounts. SSO can also help organizations comply with industry regulations such as GDPR and HIPAA by providing a centralized system for managing user access and permissions.

Improved adoption: By simplifying the login process and providing a consistent user experience across multiple applications and services, SSO can improve team adoption of new tools and technologies.

How does SSO work?
  1. User login: The user enters the login information (name/email and password) on an SSO login page.
  2. Authentication: The SSO system checks the login information to confirm the identity. This can be done, for example, by comparing the information entered with a database or an external authentication source.
  3. Issuing a token: After successful authentication, the SSO system issues a token. The token is a type of digital key that confirms the identity of the user and contains specific information about the user.
  4. Forwarding the token: The token is forwarded to the requested services or applications that are integrated with the SSO system.
  5. Token validation: The services or applications that receive the token check its validity to ensure that the person using it is authenticated. This can be done by checking the signature of the token, the expiry time or other token attributes.
  6. Grant access: If the token is valid, the services or applications grant access without requiring re-authentication.
